What is SCIVET and what can we offer?

SCIVET (Skilled Crafts – International Vocational Education and Training) is a project that is run by the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts and Small Businesses (ZDH). The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).

We are making German expertise in dual vocational education and training (VET) accessible to interested partner countries anywhere in the world in two ways:

Koordinierungsstelle

The SCIVET Co-ordination Unit is the central point of contact for those interested in cooperating with organisations from the German skilled crafts sector. Requesters for counselling and training services are brought together with skilled crafts organisation who can provide the needed services. A list of available services can be found here.

We also present international VET projects that are conducted by the organisations in the skilled crafts sector to show the variety and impact of international VET cooperation.

SCIVET has developed a set of tools that support a structured approach to planning and implementing VET projects internationally. The SCIVET tools are used by German experts from the skilled crafts organisation in advising countries that are interested in establishing their own dual VET structures. They are based on the German skilled craft sector’s systemic quality standards for international VET cooperation. Using the comprehensive analysis and planning tools developed in the SCIVET project, German experts and non-German partners can identify specific local training needs. Likewise, they help determine which existing local institutions and businesses should be involved in the planning and implementation processes. Thus, the SCIVET tools enable partners to find their individual path to adopting dual vocational education and implement training measures in their specific region or country.

Please note that the German skilled crafts sector has neither the financial means nor the mandate to finance VET planning activities outside Germany. International VET activities are financed by the partner institution or by public funding agencies.
