SCIVET-Conference: “New Tools for German Skilled Crafts’ International VET Cooperation”

The German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH) would like to invite you to the conference “New Tools for German Skilled Crafts’ International VET Cooperation”. The event is part of the SCIVET project (Skilled Crafts – International Vocational Education and Training) and will take place on

Friday, 21 September 2018
from 11:00 to 14:45 hrs.

at the Haus des Deutschen Handwerks (House of German Skilled Crafts) in Berlin.

Sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research the SCIVET projects supports international VET cooperation projects of the German skilled crafts sector worldwide. At this conference, we would like to present the instruments that were developed within the SCIVET project and illustrate how they could make international VET cooperation easier and more successful for all parties involved. Furthermore, we would like to discuss important aspects of international VET cooperation from our sector’s point of view.

Please, note that the conference language will be German throughout. Simultaneous interpretation into English, however, will be provided during the whole event.

If you would like to attend the conference, please send us an e-Mail.

Within the skilled crafts sector in Germany, we have a long tradition of sharing our expertise on VET with partners abroad who are asking for support. For many years, institutions from our sector have committed to international projects that all have one thing in common: aiming for establishing key elements of a dual, work-based VET system in foreign contexts.

With the financial support of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) we have been conducting the project SCIVET (Skilled Crafts – International Vocational Education and Training) since 2016. Due to the SCIVET project we have been able to make the skilled crafts sector’s international VET work more visible and strengthen the structures behind it.

As a strategic partner the skilled crafts are supporting German Federal Government in their bilateral VET partnerships worldwide. Working closely with the international partners, the common goal is to shape their local VET in a manner that enables the system to qualify skilled workers in tune with the requirements of the local economy and at a high level of competency. For this it is key to involve business membership organisations and individual enterprises in the governance and the delivery of vocational education and training.

Towards the end of our SCIVET project, we would like to give the expert community an insight into the portfolio of VET support services that the German skilled crafts sector has in store to be delivered abroad. With our guests on the panel and in the audience we would like to discuss the political and practical challenges that have to be met when a work-based approach to VET is intended to be established successfully and sustained in the long run. We will use the opportunity of this event to demonstrate how the elaborate new tools that have been developed within SCIVET can be of use when challenges need tackling and VET projects to deliver.

We are looking forward to welcoming you.
